Stork are seasonal visitors that migrate North in winter. Baboons are resourceful and adaptable creatures that are relatively plentiful in the area. This picture shows a bushbuck ram. They are a large antelope species found in wooded areas. Servals are a small, graceful cat species - they've been spotted on our lawn before.

The hyrax (dassie or rockrabbit) is common in the 'berg. It's not actually a rodent - these fascinating animals are the closest living relative of the elephant! The kudu is a large antelope with beautiful, twisting horns - here seen in the company of a warthog. You're likely to come across several species of lizard sunning themselves on the rocks during walks in the area. Warthogs are a wild pig species. They may not be beautiful, but they have character. Unfortunately (for them), they're also delicious
